Although Cavan is a county bordered on all sides, there is no shortage of rivers and lakes to appeal to the angler or water activity enthusiast. Ireland’s longest river, the River Shannon has its source in the county, with the River Erne being the other great river in the county. The county has over 300 lakes to choose from lakes.

The Lake County is also a county rich in historical attractions, ranging from ancient archaeological sites and artefacts such as the Bronze Age Killycluggin Stone to monastic settlements and the St. Killian’s Heritage Centre to the Cavan County Museum and the cathedral in Cavan Town.

There is an abundance of activities to choose from in County Cavan, from equestrian activities, to walking in Killykeen or Dun na Ri forest Parks or cycling on the Kingfisher Cycle Trail.
