Location

The town of Bandon was formed at the start of the 17th century by English settlers during the time of the Plantations of Munster. It has seen the rich history of Ireland at close -hand, as the battle for ownership of Irish shores has played out in detail in key settlements surrounding Bandon, as well as the town itself.
The Castles of the Irish chieftains, who owned the land before it was claimed by the English, can still be seen - the McCarthy's in Kilbrittain and the O'Mahony's, in what is now, Castle Bernard.
Over the centuries, Bandon has flourished as a centre of socioeconomic growth with a strong accent on agriculture that still provides a backbone to the community today. It has always boasted a sense of enterprise and to the present day the town is still full of privately owned businesses and boutiques, instead of the high street brands and factory store outlets seen in most other towns. Through this individualism, a strong sense of pride in community is clearly evident as everyone works together to promote the town's many attributes.

Other

The Munster Arms bar and dining area has been modernised and developed over the years to ensure a gourmet experience for all our guests. It should be noted that many locals take advantage of the high standards and extensive menu available, providing a taste of the very best of West Cork food.
In support of local producers, we make every effort to source our food from the community and its surroundings, ensuring freshness and dishes that are all seasonally appropriate. West Cork is a slice of gourmet heaven, with its staggering array of fresh seafood, profusion of vegetables and, it should not be forgotten, that Ireland is the biggest exporter of beef in the northern hemisphere, much of which is accessed from West Cork. Our aim is for our food to be representative of this myriad of choice in all our menus.
Carvery Lunches are served from 12.00 pm until 3.00pm daily (12.00pm to 5.00pm on Sundays)
A la Carte Menu available from 5.00pm until 9.30pm daily
A Children’s Menu is also available
The bar, The Munster Tavern, is an ideal setting to unwind at the end of a long day sightseeing with a warm, friendly atmosphere.
