County Fermanagh is located to the northwest of Northern Ireland and borders Donegal, Leitrim and Cavan. Fermanagh is dominated by Lough Erne, which almost transects the whole county.
County Fermanagh is a haven for the outdoor enthusiast with part of the 230 mile Kingfisher Cycle Trail running through the area. In addition to enjoying fishing and water sports on the lakes, you can take a boat ride to explore the many islands, such as Devenish Island, White Island and Lusty Beg Island. The county also has some fine golf courses to explore and a choice of excellent Fermanagh hotels.
Other attractions worth a visit in County Fermanagh include the Marble Arch Caves and European Geopark located at Florencecourt, not far from Ennisskillen, while there you can explore the underground marvel of caves and waterfalls and rivers. A brand that is known worldwide is Belleek Pottery and their visitor centre is well worth a visit.
Fermanagh is rich in castles, such as Enniskillen Castle, Crom Castle, Maguire Castle and Tully Castle. Also worth a visit is Florence Court an 18th century house with a fine collection of Irish Art and wonderful parkland and woodlands to explore. Crom Estate in Newtownbutler on the shores of Lough Erne, spreads over 2,000 acres of woodland, parkland and is an important nature conservation area.
Both Lough Erne and Lough Melvin are well known amongst anglers for Brown Trout and Salmon as well as other species and each year see the Waterways Ireland Classic Fishing Festival. The Fermanagh Lakelands, with its Rivers and Lakes are not only a haven for anglers but also for a number of water sports and outdoor activities.
