Westmeath Hotels

County Westmeath is located in Ireland’s Ease Coast and Midlands Region, together with counties Kildare, Louth, Meath, Wicklow, Laois, Offaly and Longford. When travelling around Westmeath you will find a wide variety of hotel and guesthouse accommodation to choose from.

Athlone is one of the main town in Westmeath located on the banks of the River Shannon. The estate also has fine gardens, which were restored in the mid 1990’s.

Rockfield Ecological Estate – is a classical Georgian house dating back to 1795 and houses traditional crafts in the old mill. Locke’s Distillery Museum in Kilbeggan, is one of the oldest distillery’s in the world. Dun na Si Heritage centre in Moate, Lough Park House in Castlepollard , an 18th century Dower house and Glassan a pretty village near Athlone and the hometown of the writer Oliver Goldsmith,  are also worth visiting.

There are plenty of walking routes to explore in the county, such as the Westmeath Way, which runs from Kilbeggan to Mullingar or Mullaghmeen a 1,000 acre forest with plenty of trails to explore or Kilpatrick Woods near Ballinafid and part of the old Lord Greville Estate has plenty of lakeside walks. There are also plenty of excellent Golf courses in County Westmeath, including Glasson Hotel and Golf Club, Ballinlough Castle Golf Club or the New Forest Golf Resort at Tyrellspass.

County Westmeath also offers many fine rivers and lakes to fish on including River Brosna, River Inny, Lough Owel and Lough Ree, to name but a few.
