Welcome to Limerick

Welcome to Limerick where it has often been said that perhaps the city’s biggest attraction of all is the people themselves who are warm, witty and welcoming! Limerick’s medieval churches and castles also help to give this city a grand feel. Visit King John’s Castle situated in the heart of medieval Limerick City where the brand new visitor experience and stunning new exhibition brings to life over 800 years of dramatic local history. There are an assortment of ways to explore the sights of Limerick city itself such as having a walk and talk with a local guide. You can also take to the river and have a tour of the city via kayak; experience a private sightseeing tour in a beautiful horse drawn carriage; sit back and relax on an open-top bus tour or rent a bike and sight-see in style. Historical landmarks that you can take in are King John's Castle, the Treaty Stone, the Milk Market, and Pery's Square (People's Park).

Outside of the city there is plenty more to see including one of Ireland’s prettiest towns, Adare which is designated as a heritage town by the Irish Government. If you prefer the great outdoors, you will find County Limerick has a wealth of walks, tracks and outdoor adventure attractions. The ancient and unspoilt landscape has an abundance of heritage sites, natural beauty and villages just waiting to share their magic.
