Welcome to Cork

Welcome to Cork, Ireland’s second largest city and gateway to the Wild Atlantic Way and Ireland’s Ancient East. Apart from the vibrant and compact city of Cork itself which boasts a plethora of food markets, creative eateries, snug pubs, entertainment and cultural pursuits, further afield you’ll discover its enchanting coastline with an endless succession of charming old fishing towns and villages, wild beaches and jagged peninsulas.

Cork is now a lush coastal playground and is Ireland’s Maritime Paradise with a significant maritime history spanning over a thousand years. Away from the water you can discover wild cheetahs roaming in Fota Wildlife Park, head to Ballymaloe to taste Irish country cooking at its finest, kiss the Blarney Stone at Blarney Castle or take a tour at the Jameson Experience where if you’re lucky enough, a comparative whiskey tasting might be part of the syllabus!

  • St Patrick’s Street: This curving, elegant thoroughfare is the main shopping street of Cork city. It is now mainly pedestrianised which makes it an interesting and vibrant street to walk down. It is the common ground where all Corkonians mix and with its great character and chequered past, it provides a great setting for Cork’s principal boulevard.

  • Blarney Castle & Gardens: Located 8km from Cork City, this historic castle is most famous for its stone, which has the traditional power of conferring eloquence on all who kiss it. The Castle grounds sprawl out for over 60 acres of parklands which include avenues, gardens, arboretums and waterways.
